MeWe – Me and We

UNION, CONSTRUCTION, AND GROWTH

Since 1989, Núcleo Morungaba has been developing several projects for individuals with and without disabilities, of various ages and social strata, and today is open to everyone, including participants with learning disabilities, and in situations of foster care, living in shelters. Morungaba, which aims to develop self-awareness, autonomy, and sociability of its participants, now expands its activities beyond the city of São Paulo, and shares experiences with people from other parts of Brazil and other countries. This is how the MeWe project is born: meetings between people from different cultures. MeWe is formed by members of Morungaba, professionals of Núcleo Morungaba, as well as volunteer workers. MeWe does not stand alone. It also depends on the collaboration of everyone who, in some way, identifies with the project and can disseminate and expand the network among their contacts. MeWe aims to share experiences among participants and other people with learning disabilities or in situations of foster care from different environments, in addition to knowledge exchange programs between institutions that, just like Morungaba, organize human development activities. Together with universities in the areas of healthcare, education, and fine arts, the purpose is to offer internships at Núcleo Morungaba and promote knowledge sharing. Growth is built by people seeking autonomy and social integration, as well as by all other stakeholders. Through speaking, listening, and encouraging others, the disabled or people in situation of vulnerability find their own strength and voice, while young students open up to a new outlook on social responsibility. The meetings take place through visits, going to different places and receiving people from other cultures at our “home/Morungaba” or through virtual trips, with the use of digital media (websites and social networks).
